To be honest, I didn’t come with high hopes for my accommodation. I thought it would be worn down, cramped and possibly antisocial, but I was SO wrong! I was in the Magnolias block, my room was spacious, WARM and the block was full of life! I’d already spoken to my then-future flatmates over Facebook, so I knew who to expect when I got there. Everyone wanted to get to know you, so it wasn’t hard to find friends, and by the end of Freshers’ Week there were people I felt I’d known for months.
I was nervous going to my first course briefings as I didn’t have friends on my course (which is Philosophy) yet. When I turned up though, I sat myself down with a bunch of lovely people who I found myself next to. One of them turned out to be my closest friend in uni to this day. I guess I was lucky to make such good friends so quickly; but there’s simply so many people around you it’s hard NOT to make friends!
My first impressions of my course were really positive – I’m lucky that I genuinely love my course, so I really enjoyed my studies in first year. Freshers’ Week was HECTIC though – simply so much going on – it’s a very busy week, but also hopefully one of the best weeks of your university
